PAPER ART MADE INTO BEAUTIFULLY SIMPLE WAYS TO SEND LOVE

I’m Kirstey Dickerson and the designer behind Lou & Lucy paper goods.

Lou & Lucy were my first rescue dogs. Lou is the little beagle mix on the right of the pic above - human velcro, sweet as pie and loved walks in the rain. Lucy was a Plott hound mix, our quiet stalwart companion who certainly did NOT like walks in the rain! Just as Lou & Lucy inspired many of my family’s adventures, their playful spirits infuse the colorful, joyful designs you will find in my work.

Lou & Lucy Paper Goods is the result of a dream to make the stationery I wanted for myself. Every design starts with a piece of art made by hand from construction paper, and then transformed into the items you see. I love joyful color, stripes, a scalloped edge and a bit of whimsy. Maybe you do, too.

Besides being a designer I’m a mom, and part of my decision process is to enable L&L stationery to work in many situations; whenever someone might need a beautiful way to reach out and let someone know they’re being thought of and appreciated.

I grew up in South Africa, where the sunshine left its mark forever on my creativity. I now live outside of Boston with my hubby, 12 year-old twins and current rescue pups Poppy and Magnolia.

The climate crisis is here to stay, and it’s up to us as individuals and organizations to do our part in reducing our impact on the earth. Plastic is everywhere. Lou & Lucy products are purposefully plastic-free, and completely recycle-able except for the removable sticker/label that holds the products together for display. Once that is removed the product can be used, and then also recycled. The string that holds notebook sets together is 100% cotton.

The paper used for L&L greeting cards is certified FSC, 100% recycled, acid-free and is Green Seal certified. The gorgeous envelopes that bring L&L designs to life are manufactured using chlorine-free pulp (TCF) sourced from locally harvested Birch. For every tree felled, at least two new trees are planted. The production of the envelopes has one of the lowest CO2 emissions in the paper industry. Wholesale orders will be sent out in re-used boxes as much as possible, along with re-used packing paper.

Notepads are FSC 70% mix, has SFI certified, chlorine- and acid-free, and 10% recycled. Our gift wrap is from FSC forests.

Working toward being less harmful to the earth is an ongoing goal.
